downtown aquarium

Every year that we have lived here we have gone on a very fun field trip to the Downtown Aquarium thanks to our wonderful homeschool group.

After going through the aquarium, the boys and I went to our squid dissecting class (this science nerd loved it!).

With the smell of squid and formaldehyde still fresh, we went off for lunch with our friend in the parking lot.

We got to rides the rides as much as we wanted.  Which meant we rode the merry-go-round a lot...for Meg, and the shark train a couple of times and the ferris wheel ONCE.  Because momma couldn't handle it more than that.

crocodile encounter

We are part of a great homeschooling group down here. The best part of it is the field trips.  We've been on three already this year with our group and have three more planned before the end of the year.
A couple weeks ago we went down to Angleton to the Crocodile Encounter.  And it lived up to its name.  Our tour guides were Billy and Leonard.  If you have a chance you should go, even if it's just to meet Bud Murphy.

This capybara's name is Bud Murphy.  It makes me laugh every time.

 

 

 

They let us go right in the pen with these tortoises.  It was awesome until one ran right into me.

After that encounter we hit up Sonic and went to the Brazoria County Historical Museum.  The most interesting part of that "museum" was the staircase.

Megan's birthday shoot part 2

After I took pictures of Megan for her birthday, I took her to the park, just as I promised her.  These are from the park.  We had fun playing together. There were a couple of wedding parties at the park taking portraits and several couples dressed up for homecoming.  Megan loved all the fancy dresses.

grammyland part 3: logoly state park

On our last day we went over to Logoly State Park in Magnolia.  It's a nice little state park.  Pawpaw went with us this time.  Last year I took the kids to this park the day of Grandma Daisy's funeral after the service.

grammyland part 2

I guess I should explain why Magnolia, Arkansas, is called grammyland.  Grammy really grew up outside of McNeil, but Magnolia is close and much bigger, relatively.  Besides that, she went to Southern Arkansas University, which is in Magnolia, for her undergraduate degree.  Besides that Magnolia is "town".  When I would visit my grandmother and we went to "town", we would go to Magnolia.  Of course, we never would go if "it was comin' up a cloud".  "If it was comin' up a cloud" we would stay home and unplug the T.V. 

Our second day in Magnolia we spent some time on the square.  I wish, wish, wish I had more time and freedom and skill to photograph it like I see it in my head.  I'll get there another time, I guess.
